As you may know by now, Evangeline Lilly has been cast as Tauriel, a Woodland Elf in the Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit. Not a whole lot is known about her role, except that it does not involve a romantic relationship with Orlando Bloom’s character of Legolas.
Lilly won’t begin filming her role until September, when the second “block” of shooting begins on the two-film series. Here is a video of Hobbit director Peter Jackson discussing the first block of shooting, which just wrapped:
