National Geographic’s new limited series “The Hot Zone: Anthrax” starring Daniel Dae KIm premieres Thanksgiving weekend, and a new featurette provides some background on the true events it is based on.
The three-episode series event premieres Sunday, November 28, and stars Daniel Dae Kim (“LOST”, “Hawaii 5-0”) and Tony Goldwyn (“Lovecraft Country,” “Scandal”). It follows the real-life events of the Anthrax attacks on America in 2001.
After the terror attacks on 9/11, America aced a wave of deadly anthrax letters. Targeting journalists and politicians, mail laced with anthrax powder killed five people and caused panic across the United States.
“The Hot Zone: Anthrax” follows FBI Special Agent Matthew Ryker (Kim) as he tracks down the killer behind the letters. Bruce Ivins (Goldwyn), a brilliant microbiologist, becomes the prime suspect in the attacks.
The six-hour limited series follows last year’s season of “The Hot Zone”, which followed the Ebola outbreak in America. It was National Geographic’s most-watched scripted series of all time.
This behind-the-scenes “Sneak Peek” provides more background on the series.
Here’s a “First Look” preview of the series, released earlier this year.
